Medical Staff
All physicians in Clínica São Vicente ER are prepared with two approaches that allow full treatment with efficiency and efficacy for trauma and cardiac attention.

These professionals, trained in many medical specialties, are ready to identify the patients’ immediate needs based on the problem they have and to call the indicated specialists if necessary.

ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
ATLS system training leads to systematic attention of poly-trauma patients (those with fractures, falls, accidents, wounds, explosions, burns) making it possible to quickly identify the problem, to give first aid and when necessary to access specialists available on-call.

The “trained eye”, in this initial stage, is what determines the success of all the treatment, with a big impact in the survival and future sequelae. The systematic approach allows the physicians to have a holistic understanding of the patient's condition, identifying the aspects that demand immediate care.

The ATLS training, given by the Rio de Janeiro Trauma Group is renewed every four years. This system has been adopted since the beginning of the activities at Clínica São Vicente ER in 1994, and was the pioneer service in the Rio de Janeiro private sector.

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Another area that receives priority in the ER is Cardiology that counts with professionals trained in ACLS giving the patient systematic cardiac attention. In Brazil, the course is given by the Brazilian Cardiology Society and revaluated every two years, with the endorsement of American International organizations such as the American Heart Association.

Assistant Physician
The staff on duty in the ER will systematically contact the assistant physician indicated by the patient or patient’s family, informing him/her of the patient’s condition, exchanging ideas and discussing the best strategies to be used in the investigation and treatment.

Pre-hospital treatment
Patients who might run certain risks during transfers might receive pre-hospital treatment in mobile ICUs, equipped with technology and medication for intensive care actions.

Family care
The patient’s attention while in the ER also includes special attention to family members. In medical emergency situations it is important to understand the perception of emotional conditions of the relatives and friends and the effective actions that might make people feel at ease regarding the procedures that shall be conducted. Clínica São Vicente ER has a team of Physiologists and customer service staff responsible for personal support, in order to minimize anxieties and to clarify doubts
